"Africa Day Celebration and Contest Winners"
Students wore fashionable clothes made from kapulana, making today's Africa Day vibrant and exciting. Everyone felt proud to wear something originally African. Each class picked two best-dressed boys and girls. There was also food to share, and the kids loved being free to play with their friends and exchange stories.
Africa Day celebrates the founding of the African Union on May 25, 1963, raising awareness of Africa’s rich history.
Maputo International College started its celebration with a program from the Kindergarten Department, followed by Primary and High School performances. Many parents attended the Primary program, enjoying special presentations from each grade. The students danced and sang with such joy that the audience couldn't help but smile. The Grade 6 performance, which mimicked the revolutionary spirit of African nations against their colonizers, was particularly moving and underscored the commemoration's significance.
