Election Time: MIC Chooses Student Council Officers

The MIC Primary Department proudly welcomes a new batch of Student Council Officers for School Year 2026. Today, February 6, marked an important step toward this goal as the Student Council Election was successfully held.

In preparation for the election, the candidates spent the week campaigning in each class. They introduced themselves, presented their proposed programs, and encouraged their fellow students to support their teams. During today’s assembly, each group of candidates was also formally presented to the entire department, allowing everyone to recognize the teams before voting began.

This event took place during the department’s second assembly for February, making the election the highlight of the gathering. Voting was conducted during break time, during which students in Grades 4 to 6 selected the team they believed would best lead and serve the student body.

The teams that participated in the election were the following:

• Team Lead, led by Akilla Usta as the presidential candidate
• Team Responsible Voices, led by Meera Nair
• Dream Team, led by Luana Loforte
• Team Care, led by Reinna Kaiss
• Team Rising Leaders, led by Aline Kaiss

After the voting concluded, all ballots were collected by Teacher Vincent Maghanoy, the Student Council moderator. He facilitated the counting and tallying of votes to determine the newly elected officers.

Recognition Day

The school held a series of Recognition Day celebrations, where students from each department were honored with medals and certificates. These events were followed by the graduation ceremonies for Kindergarten, Grade 6, and Grades 12 and 13 students.

The first Recognition Day was organized by the Primary Department on November 21, 2025, at the Eduardo Mondlane Auditorium. The program was divided into two batches: Grades 1 to 3 held their ceremony from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, while Grades 4 and 5 had their celebration from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each class was called onstage, starting with Grade 1, and every section danced before receiving its awards. It was a wonderful and festive day for the Primary Department.

The next Recognition Day was for the Kindergarten Department on November 22. The program began at 9:00 a.m. and ended just before 12:00 noon. Following the same format, each section danced the awarding. All performances featured Christmas-themed dances, making it a joyful and heartwarming celebration for the Kindergarten community.

The final Recognition Day was conducted by the High School Department on November 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It was a momentous event, highlighted by unique dance performances and a well-organized awarding ceremony.

All programs were made possible with the support and guidance of the class advisers and department principals: Teacher Rindi for High School, Teacher Juliet for Kindergarten, and Teacher Marly for the Primary Department. Special thanks also go to the school administrator, Mr. Hussein Yahfoufi, and the school director, Mr. Mohammad Jamil Kassem, for their generous support and for personally awarding the medals and certificates. They attended all programs—from Kindergarten to Primary to High School—making each event extra special.

Welcome, School Year 2026

The School Year 2026 has just begun, and it opened with a day of gentle rain that showered the campus from morning until afternoon. Perhaps it was a blessing to mark a fresh start. Despite the weather, the school community was fully prepared. Teachers and students alike were ready to welcome a new chapter of learning and growth.

The first day was dedicated to orientation. Students were introduced to their subjects, and course outlines were presented and carefully explained by the teachers. They copied the outlines and gained a clear understanding of what to expect for the year ahead. It was a day of organization, preparation, and setting goals.

On the second day, more students arrived, including several new faces joining our school community. Regular classes officially began, and teachers from all subjects started presenting and explaining the first lessons. The atmosphere was lively and encouraging as learning moved into full swing.

This school year also brings several new practices. One of these is the use of a toilet pass, which students must obtain before leaving the classroom. This system helps manage and control the number of students going in and out at a time. In addition, teachers’ uniforms are now color-coded according to their schedules, adding a sense of organization and unity across the campus.

Another exciting highlight is the newly renovated building for Grades 1 and 2, located on the far right side of the MIC Primary building. The new facility includes a swimming pool and a larger area for sports activities. It is a wonderful addition that truly stands out and enhances the learning environment for School Year 2026.

With these improvements and a strong start, School Year 2026 promises to be a year filled with growth, discipline, and exciting opportunities for both students and teachers.

Students Unite for a Cleaner Beach

Today, the student council visited the beach near Baia Mall to clean up litter and help protect the environment. The activity was organized and led by the student council under the guidance of Teacher Vincent Maghanoy. Many students joined the clean-up, with participants from various grade levels—especially Grade Six—taking an active part.

During the activity, students worked together to collect plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste scattered along the shore. They learned about the importance of keeping natural spaces clean and how pollution affects marine life. The clean-up also helped strengthen teamwork and responsibility among the students, as they collaborated and encouraged one another throughout the activity.

The event ended with a short reflection session, where students shared what they had learned and how they could continue helping the environment in their daily lives. The school hopes that activities like this will inspire students to become more environmentally aware and active in promoting a cleaner, healthier community.
